Happy 223rd Birthday to Jenkins!

Jenkins has turned 223 years old today!

Jenkins was founded in 1802 in a small room in Independence Hall and is considered America’s first law library. Jenkins has certainly come a long way in the past 223 years! Check out our historical timeline on the library's milestones that range from its founding in 1802, to its 220th anniversary. 

We currently serve members of the library and users of the general public with legal research assistance through our reference services, legal databases, blog posts, CLEs, and research guides.

Our mission has been dedicated to bringing people and information together within the legal community and is committed to providing value through its outstanding service, comprehensive access to legal and other information, relevant educational programs, the latest technologies, and a hospitable place to work and visit.
